The Importance of Staff Vetting
A London couple owned several homes in the UK and abroad and employed a number of domestic staff.
The staff were hired via a specialist employment agency, but the Agency failed to check on their backgrounds – putting the clients and their young children at considerable risk.
After the theft of £100,000 of jewellery, the couple asked us to investigate.
We established that a number of the staff were stealing significant sums. We presented the evidence and the offending staff members were dismissed.
We also discovered that the couple’s home overseas was being used by an employee as a base for serious organised crime – putting them and their young family at risk.
Recognising that our clients’ reputation and safety were paramount, we dealt with the matter discreetly but effectively.
At the couple’s request, we then undertook a thorough security review upgrading the alarms, cameras and locks at their homes.
We also set up a comprehensive security vetting system for existing and new staff, reducing the opportunity for theft or harm to their children.
Our actions safeguarded the good reputation of the couple, gave them peace of mind and also resulted in the recovery of some of the stolen items.
